The guest headliners for this year’s Scottish Metal 2 The Masses Grand Final have been announced, and the date approaches…
M2TM is the award winning live initiative from the UK’s biggest independent metal festival, Bloodstock Open Air. A Mecca for the nation’s metalheads, the 2026 edition of the fest features legendary names in the scene, such as Judas Priest, Lamb of God, Saxon, Body Count, Testament, Bleed From Within, Party Cannon, and many more. Through M2TM, underground bands from regions all over the UK and beyond, will carve their way to a slot at BOA every year.
Since 2020, Slow Dragon Music has taken the reins of the programme in Scotland, transforming a single city celebration into a country-wide endeavour. Reaching into the far corners of the territory, it levels the playing field, and gives a wider picture of Scotland’s vast array of heavy music talent. Via Heats and Semi-finals from Glasgow to Fraserburgh, Edinburgh to Inverness, five outstanding acts have made their way to the Grand Final, at La Belle Angele, Edinburgh, on May 23rd. Now, the guest headliners joining them have been revealed.

SOLAR SONS
Now signed to the legendary Italian stoner/doom/post-metal label, Argonauta Records, Dundee prog metal wizards, Solar Sons, top the bill. Currently performing in support of their latest album, Altitude, they have received widespread praise from the likes of Doomed and Stoned, Weedian, Outlaws of the Sun, The Obelisk, Ave Noctum, and many others. They won M2TM in 2017, and were invited back to Bloodstock in 2022, have shared stages with Green Lung, Weedpecker, and King Witch, rocked crowds at Hordes X and Bonfest, and much more. A real gem of the heavy scene, and rising fast.

NOTHING SPEAKS
While the options are kept open, it has become somewhat of a tradition to invite our previous year winners to take on a guest headline spot at the Grand Final. In 2025, Nothing Speaks blew us all away with a natural ease, well beyond their years. Now signed with Reaction Management, they took their grunge metal hybrid to a rammed New Blood tent at BOA, following it up with events such as Winterstorm and more. Their blend of emotional heaviness, bringing together Alice In Chains with a touch of Gojira, has seen them hit airwaves across the globe, most recently, with the single, Blackwater.

THE FINALISTS
THE BROKEN RAVENS
One of the most remote acts of this year’s M2TM Scotland, The Broken Ravens bide in the North West Isle of Lewis. As you can imagine, it isn’t the epicenter of heavy music, but they have made it work.

Chekhov’s Gun have been through the fields of M2TM a few times, now, even previously making it to the Grand Final. The live initiative has witnessed them continuously evolving…

KING NOBODY
It’s not the first turn at M2TM for King Nobody. They carved their way to the 2024 Glasgow Semi-final. Now they’re back again, but they’ve brought some chaos to stages inbetween.
On the highlights, the band comment : “There’s been a few, but raising £900 for a local charity, by playing a headline gig in a packed Garage Attic was amazing. That means a lot. “

LATE LANDING
Quietly crafting away of late, East coast hard rockers, Late Landing have earned themselves a solid string of shows, including the brand new Summers End festival.
“…We may have been incorrectly booked,” they joke, “but in all seriousness 2025 was a standout year for the band.“

LUPINE RAINE
As well as being one of the more melodic bands in this year’s M2TM Scotland, Lupine Raine are also one of the newest, releasing their debut single, Echoes, just last Summer.
“We were incredibly proud of releasing our 1st single, Echoes, in June ‘25 and completing our debut EP, It was never just one thing.“
