…A Round Of Apathy…, the debut EP from Skaith, is now crawling the underground!
Based across East Scotland, Skaith have just unveiled their debut release, …A Round Of Apathy… The five track demo EP was recorded live, at Perth’s Breakout Studios, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Stephen Gowans. It is currently set for exclusive availability at Skaith’s live shows.
The warts-and-all offering makes no bones about what it is; a raw and ready collection of hardcore/sludge meets death, thrash, and black metal. Songs as they are played. No polish. No click track.
Lyrically, it ranges from the grim to the ludicrous. War and wasps get an equal verbal battering, alongside tales of doomed relationships, and existential dread, and spiritual meanderings.
The EP is a no-holds-barred approach to bridging the gap between Crowbar and Anthrax, with any appealing distractions incorporated along the way. This character is amply displayed in the existing singles, Bleed For You and Wasp Bastards. Yet, more side streets and dirt tracks are explored throughout …A Round Of Apathy…
From the mouths of Skaith:
“I jumped at the chance to be involved in Skaith and I’d say that passion is seeping through on the EP.” exclaims drummer, Ian Stobbie. “For me, I like bringing the variety when it comes to writing, from the sludge beats of Bleed For You to the thrash thumping of No One Gets Out Of Here Alive, I like to keep each track fun and interesting, particularly with the nonsense of Wasp Bastards! I get to cut loose a little“
Ian Barron (bass) adds: “It’s catchy as fuck and heavy as fuck in equal measure. I fucking love the trem-picking in Vision Quest, that makes you think it’s a black metal song, then it’s suddenly sounds like Biohazard!“
