Hordes X 2024 Announces First Artists
Hordes X – Scotland’s longest running heavy music event – has expanded…
The Dundee based fest has shifted from one day to four, and announced the first batch of acts to appear at its 14th edition. Running September 26th – 29th, at Beat Generator Live and Roots Music Venue, the 2024 bill will include Scottish exclusives, Dundee debuts, and specially selected appearances from The Infernal Sea, with Crossfire, BrainBath, Ante-Inferno, Demolizer, and more. Along with this first raft of bands, the iconic event has also shared its new main sponsor, Jack Daniels Tennessee Whiskey; the perfect match for rocking out all weekend.Reduced rate early bird tickets are now on sale in extremely limited quantities.
Friday headliners, The Infernal Sea, released their fourth full-length, Hellfenlic, at the start of this year, via Candlelight Records. Their recent live activities have taken them to events such as Celestial Darkness, Cosmic Void, and Damnation Festival’s Night Of Salvation. Now, they march on Hordes X, as their sole Scottish show of 2024. The rising evil of Scarborough’s Ante-Inferno (Vendetta Records) will join them as main support on the Friday, to make it a double dose of darkness, again, only at Hordes X.
Elsewhere, Denmark’s death-thrash upstarts, Demolizer, bring another Scottish exclusive, headlining the Thursday warmup show, while Irish thrashers, Crossfire (Wormholedeath), and cinematic progressive London metallers, Opensight, make Saturday at Hordes X their only date in Scotland for this year.
With the strength of the Scottish metal scene, draughting fresh home-grown talent is at the core of the event.
Local prog metal legends, Solar Sons, return to Hordes for the first time in six years, with abrasive Aberdeen metalcore brutes, Goodhuman, joining the bill for the first time, and Dundonian stoner rockers, Kurnel Fist, easing on the brakes for the Sunday cooldown session. From the opposite coast, Glasgow supplies this year with abominably heavy death metallers, BrainBath, while the Capital spits out melodic hard-rockers, Tiberius, both making their Dundee debuts.
Hordes X is also known to dig deep for something special in its opening acts. Louder than hell Perth hardcore punks, Millions Will Die, kick off on Thursday, with Misophonia (Sliptrick Records) launching Friday into blackened throes of Gothic psych. Early attendees on Saturday, meanwhile, will be treated to the fiery filth and fuzz of The Zealous Chieftans, hitting Dundee for the first time ever.
Our new third stage at Roots Music venue is dedicated to our design partner, Very Metal Art, who have provided us with excellent poster art for every Hordes X event since rebranding from Hordes Of Belial, including this very poster:

More about Hordes X:
Run by Slow Dragon Music as an all-dayer since 2010, Hordes X has dominated the last Saturday of every September North of the border, bringing the best in the underground together with bands such as Hellripper, Man Must Die, Saor, and Acid Reign. Now, it has broken loose, opening up to four days, over two venues, and three stages.
The event has played an important part in the early stages of many heavy music acts, platforming the likes of Party Cannon, Dog Tired, King Witch, De Profundis, Krysthla, and more. It has carved a name as highlight of the Scottish metal calendar, and the place to discover the best new and emerging bands. 2024 sees the fest stretch to new heights, and is set to be something truly special.
