We finally got there! Gigs are open in Scotland again, and 2022’s Metal 2 The Masses is rolling out!
For those of you unfamiliar with M2TM, it is a live events based initiative from Bloodstock Open Air Festival. It reaches out all around the UK, as well as a handful of other countries. Ultimately, one band from each region is picked up to go on and play at the festival itself. The shows themselves have proven to be a bonding experience for many participating bands, and raised the profile of all taking part.
This year, as with the arrangement in 2019/2020, we’re going out all over Scotland with the Heats, to reach bands in their home towns and cities. This seems much more fair than focusing on just one city. This change was vastly met with positive response in all regions, so here we go again!
The Scottish Heats are divided into eight areas; Dundee, Inverness, Edinburgh, Kirkcaldy, Perth, Aberdeen, Glasgow, and Bathgate. Four bands participate in each Heat. Two from each Heat progress to their nearby Semi-finals. You can find the Facebook events and ticket links below.

How it works:
Progress decisions from the Heats are made on a 50/50 split between audience vote, and music industry judges choices. While the judges will rate based on a set of criteria, audience members can rate all four acts from favourite to least favourite. Vote slips will be handed out at the start of the night, and not collected until the end. This, we believe, gives a more even spread to people’s second choices. Check out the chart below to see which Heats lead to which Semi-finals, and then the Grand Final.
We’re really excited to finally be able to get back to this! It felt like a mission cut short when we couldn’t complete our first run at it, live. We did manage a streaming final – see below – but it just wasn’t the same for us, or the bands. Or you, the audience! This time, with luck, we’ll see it through to one hell of a massive party at La Belle Angele.
We have loads more information to come, but in the mean time, please check out all the amazing bands, hit going on the Heats you want to attend, and, most importantly, BUY YOUR TICKETS!!! Some shows are smaller than others, and will fill up quickly. Others just need all the support they can get. We’ve all missed live metal for so long. Let’s give it a huge welcome back for this year’s Metal 2 The Masses: Scotland!
