The full list of bands appearing at this year’s Hordes X festival has just gone live – and it’s a grizzly grassroots monster!

We are however, bringing 7 new bands to the table, to fill the event with yet another mountain of riffs! With this update, Early Bird tickets are closed, and Advance tickets are now on sale at £20, here. Don’t forget to secure your Hordes X 2026 t-shirt, only available via pre-ordering for pickup at the event (email slowdragonmusic@gmail.com to get yours).

19 bands head to Hidden and Music Hall Dundee, September 18th – 19th, for the sixteenth edition of Scotland’s longest running metal festival. Meet the final additions below!!!

PICT

Glasgow ‘bleak metallers,’ Pict might play slow, but they have been moving fast, stepping up from the first slot at Hordes X 2025, to the middle of the main stage this year.

Since releasing their EP, The Nomad, at the beginning of the year, they’ve been touring up and down the country, laying waste to various cities across the UK with their weighty riffs. They are planning on going back on the road a couple of times before the end of the year. But that doesn’t mean they’ve been neglecting the studio. In fact, work is underway on their first full-length album.

In the background we have been working on some new music,” Pict reveal, “Some of which you will hear in our set at Hordes X – It’s much heavier and bleaker than what we have released so far. We are so excited to be returning to Hordes. We opened the festival on the Friday last year, and enjoyed it so much. Getting to see all the bands after that was amazing, and we can’t wait to play alongside some more awesome artists, and enjoy the festival for ourselves.

MOURNING OF THE HERETIC

Hailing from the North of Ireland, Mourning of the Heretic have been treading the path of gothic death/doom metal since 2010 (bar a substantial hiatus) and now bring their disinterred form to Dundee.

They have maintained a strong presence across the UK and Ireland, with multiple tours, festival appearances at The Siege of Limerick and Call Of The Crow, and performances alongside established acts such as Christian Death. Following on from their 2024 opus, To the Shadows Betrothed, the band are currently completing their new full-length album, set for release in the near future, with further live dates already in the works.

MOTH state: “We’re incredibly excited to be heading to Hordes X, and making our debut at such an iconic festival. With our new album nearing completion, and plenty more live activity on the horizon, we can’t wait to bring Mourning Of The Heretic to the Hordes X stage and make our first appearance one to remember.

DARK REMNANTS

Only forming this year, Dark Remnants are offering up somewhat of a mysterious affair, making Hordes their very first Dundee show.

Delivering melodic death metal, with an old-school metalcore twist, they list their FFO as Unearth, Darkest Hour, and Arch Enemy. At this stage, the band are still secretively crafting their first album recordings, which means there is nothing publicly available for listening just yet… If you want to know what they sound like, you’ll just have to come down the the Friday of Hordes X and find out for yourself! They’ve got the grits, though, rest assured, also landing themselves slots at Beermageddon and Fife Metalfest.

From the band: “We in Dark Remnants are massively stoked for our upcoming festival run of shows, especially as a recently established band, being given the opportunity to play to new and amazing audiences. We want to thank all the promoters involved (you know who you are!) for giving us a chance! If you like riffs, grooves, vibey choruses and breakdowns, then we can’t wait to see you in the pit! While we have no released music as of yet – we are working tremendously hard behind the scenes to change that, so keep an eye out for what we’ve got coming for you…

SACRIFICIAL BURIAL

Utterly thunderous, groove-struck death metal is the order of the day with Sacrificial Burial, who storm into the Friday of Hordes X 2026.

Their gnarled sound has stood them in good stead. Before cooling things down to concentrate on recording an album, they landed some enviable spots, sharing stages with the likes of Power Trip and Inhuman Nature. In January, they dropped their new single, Scatter The Flesh, and are hinting at another before Hordes, with details of the new record to come, too.

We’ve been hard at work on new material over the last year, and we can’t wait to be able to share it with you all!” The band enthuses. “In the meantime, we’re really looking forward to our Hordes X debut, as we’ve been aware of the festival for some time, but haven’t had a chance to join the bill until now. We’re excited to come back to Dundee to share some riffs with you all

FERAL GHOUL

Feral Ghoul come lumbering out of Fife, clutching a skeletal fistful of dungeon crawling death metal, dredged from the genre’s depths.

They’ve really sunk their rotting fangs into the scene since forming just over a year ago. As well as playing all over Scotland, they raided Newcastle, Liverpool, and Leeds as support to Mortal Remains, and launched their debut EP, Chainsaw, and the Deathwasher single. It seems these nuclear deadites have no plans of slowing down.

Ready to spread their disease, the band exclaim “Feral Ghoul are buzzing to be part of Hordes X 2026, such a long running and prolific fest in the Scottish scene. There’s such an incredible lineup over the weekend, and we hope to expose our irradiated death metal to the folks of Dundee!

EVIL DEEDS

Glasgow based Evil Deeds present a uniquely horror tinged take on what can mainly be deemed thrash metal.

Heavily influenced by Sam Raimi‘s Evil Dead, George Romero‘s Living Dead films, and more, they slightly blur the lines between the arts of music and film. Getting this cross-breeding right takes time, though, and the band are slowly carving their way through an excellent set of video singles, rather than taking the immediate album approach. A full-length, however, is lurking around the corner…

We’ve been playing some shows around Scotland with more shows planned,” they relay “while also working on our debut album that is set to release soon. Coming to Hordes X is an exciting opportunity for us, as not only will it be our debut show for Dundee, but it also will be our first time playing with so many of these great acts.

SERPENT

Edinburgh’s Serpent are one of the newer bands on this year’s Hordes X bill, but they have been grafting away at getting their tunes out there.

In march 2026, they unleashed their four track EP, Can’t Cut The Head Off The Snake. While they note that they take cues from the likes of Motörhead and Black Sabbath, their groove heavy sound had a gritty hardcore edge as well. Maybe as though someone had put all of Corrosion Of Conformity‘s collected works into an audio blender. They didn’t stop there, though. They’ve also dropped a live album, and are planning more.

We have just recorded our new single Constrictor,” they say, “which will be releasing in October. We are excited to be playing Hordes X as it will be our first time playing in Dundee. We can’t wait to share our music with everyone.
