Scotland’s oldest metal fest. Hordes X. It couldn’t happen without a lot of help.
Hordes X is a huge task, all in the name of raising the flag for grassroots heavy music. It needs great bands. It needs great venues. And, obviously, it needs great fans! Behind the curtain, however, there are many others grafting away to bring it all together. Let’s meet some of the people assisting in making it what it is in 2026…
Very Metal Art – Poster Artist

Since Hordes X was re-branded in 2019 from it’s previous title, Hordes Of Belial (marking the tenth anniversary edition), Very Metal Art has provided the visual backbone of the festival. A graphic design company par excellence, their body of work can be felt across the metalsphere. From posters for Bloodstock and Uprising festivals, countless band logos, plus various materials for Judas Priest, Flotsam & Jetsam, Skindred, Soil, and many others, VMA keeps the fire of metal art burning fiercely. Unquestionably one of the best in the business!

Imperative PR – Press Relations

For the last three years, Imperative PR have been elementary in spreading the word about Hordes X amongst the heavy music media world. The company was born from the collective experience of its small team, former contributors to Zero Tolerance Magazine. Just as that print publication was a signal fire for true heavy music fans, IPR have switched to the other side of the conversation, with the same ethos in mind. They’ve represented Grim Reaper, Conflict, Therion, Kraanium, Werewolves, Paganizer, De Profundis, and a load more monstrous music. The heralds of heaviness!

Ghost Cult Magazine – Media Partner

US based online music mag, Ghost Cult, is nearly as old as Hordes itself, having been established in 2012. With contributors from around the globe, it delivers earnest reviews, news, and a rather special collection of video interviews and podcasts. While giving heartfelt support to underground artists, they have also broadcast chats with many serious names over the years; Devin Townsend? Check. Napalm Death? Check. Paradise Lost? Check. Killswitch Engage? The Black Dahlia Murder? Testament? Check, check, and check. Not to mention spreading Scotland’s oldest metal fest across the Atlantic…

Moshville Times/Moshville Radio – Media Partner

Moshville Times/Radio are one of the biggest supporters of grassroots heavy music throughout the UK media. In both press and radio, among the plethora of events for whom they raise the flag, are not only Hordes X, but also Metal 2 The Masses (with their Moshville 4 The Masses show), Hella Rock, and numerous others. They also run continuous reviews, interviews, and spotlights on hundreds of upcoming artists, showing a real passion for the whole rock and metal ecosystem. And being centered in Scotland brings them right into our home and heart.

Scotland Rocks Radio – Media Partner

Taking to the airwaves in 2019, Scotland Rocks Radio set out with one simple plan in mind: play the very best in rock and metal in all its forms. Like Hordes X, they may be Scotland based, but aim to connect the region with the greater heavy music community. They first started shouting out on behalf of the festival in 2022, with Saor headlining, and have helped to hail the Hordes nearly every year since. SRR also support events such as Wildfire Festival, and have been known to take over stages themselves, with the likes of Live and Wilder, as well as Forged In Scotland.

Breakout Studios – Equipment & Studio Supplier

This small, Perth music studio is slowly evolving into an important creative hub in East Scotland. Breakout Studios began facilitating video interview sessions for Hordes X in 2025 (Killscythe), also assisting with backline supply. In addition to reasonably priced rehearsal space, they also offer recording, mixing, mastering, repairs, and if you are into BBQs, crafting, wargames, RPGs, metalwork, and/or historical weaponry… they might have something else going on to catch your attention. We can only imagine this place going from strength to strength.

Piraxa Studios – Video Services

This year, we have drafted in the skills of Edinburgh audio visual business, Piraxa Studios, to collect a visual record of Hordes X 2026. They share the fest’s passion for the Scottish underground, performing audio work with the likes of Cult of Sobek, Dread Persephone, Clark McMenemy (IHLO, Nassau), and more. Their experience in live video recording, however, will bring a different tone to proceedings, coming from a background working with Edinburgh University Singers, St Mary’s Metropolitan Cathedral, Aurora Ensemble of Edinburgh, Streatham St Bart’s London, and London Handel Festival.
