While they have big ties to the Fife metal scene, Temporal Prophet list their location as Falkirk. The town used to be a hot spot for Scottish metal, but in recent years, it grew somewhat cold.

The Falkirk scene these days, seems close to non-existent to be honest” confirms frontman Daniel “Shaggy” Shannon.

There is a good amount of talented bands from Falkirk and surrounding areas, like Skrap and Mortal Remains. But outside of Rock Bottom there arent many venues that will put bands on at all, never mind those of a heavier persuasion. It is a great wee place to play though. Despite some early teething problems with sound issues, it’s really come on leaps and bounds. It is a shame that it is the only venue in Falkirk putting bands on though.

Growing up there, there were a good amount of venues and people in promotions” he continues.

20 Rocks, City/Sportsters and Martell used to put ok some real good shows and get good crowds even dating back to Roses and The Engine Rooms its always had good crowds and bands wanting to play. Unfortunately, most have fell away. Even the youth projects that were set up when I was growing up have all fell away. Without places like The Music Room in Bo’ness recreation centre, I dont know if i would have ever known the feeling of standing on a stage, roaring into the faces of happy metal reprobates.

It’s also worth noting that, despite individual members time served, they are a relatively new band. But that hasn’t stopped them from sinking their teeth into the gigging circuit.

Yeah things have been going pretty steady for us on the gigging front since we played our first gig just over a year ago.

Reminiscing, Shaggy says: “(We) played with some absolutely incredible bands over that time period, from Hand of Kalliach at our first performance, to the awesome, Godeater, and Norwegian death-metallers Once Awake. But our 2 favourite shows to date were with the local talent from the Scottish metal scene.

Playing our first M2TM alongside Vortex Sutra (1 man shows with an alternative media visual – like watching a 30mins music video live), Eld Varg (the battle metal trio who are always a real fun time to the eyes and ears), and the incredibly talented young lads in Permacrisis (just astonishingly brilliant to be honest). It was the first gig that we played where everything just seemed to click for us on stage.

The energy in the room was palpable.

Being on last, knowing the 3 bands that had been on before us, we knew we had to just give everything we had. We had nothing to lose as the newest band playing, we knew it would be a tough task, as green as we were. But when we started playing, and each and every one of us played tight, with energy, and the crowd got involved…. well it was all finally worth it.

Temporal Prophet – M2TM 2026

Our favourite moment so far? Well it is between that and the all day Fife Metalfest Winter Edition in Dunfermline. Man… that gig was emotional. We were asked by Drew Cochrane (Metalfest events/Catalysis). We had played alongside him on 2 or 3 previous occassions with Hyperstasis, and (for reasons known only to him) he decided to put us on alot later in the day than we had expected. After finding that out we didnt want to let him down.

So, we got to practicing and getting tight, when, not only did we have to source a new bass player, but I was diagnosed with cancer….

Over the next month I had operations and such, we looked for a new bassist without much success. Then, a week or so before the festival, Tom Allan from We Make Mammoths stepped up! 10 days before a gig we had been looking forward to, we just managed to find a stand in, and I had just had chemo. Which by the way absolutely sucks! Thankfully, I’ve been given the all clear, and only really had one blast of that radioactice keech.

The outpouring of support when we got there was something that genuinely put a lump in my throat. The Scottish metal scene might genuinely be one of the last real communities in Scotland. It is truly an honor to be a part of it. When we hit that stage all my ache n pains subsided, Tom absolutely funkin nailed it and the atmosphere was electric. It was not only one of the best TP performance to date but was also one of the best days of my life personally. So yeah those 2 gigs are easily the best to date.

And the stories and trials don’t stop on stage…

Our first single release, Breathe, was a difficult song to write lyrically” reveals the vocalist

Musically the lads did a wonderful job. Stevies riff writing skills, and having his brother, Beanie, on the drums, really helps the process of building a song greatly. They both know where they want the song to go, and its a genuine pleasure to watch. Lyrics for this one were a little hard for me to put to paper. I am more used to writing very general angry songs whilst hurling inflatable seagulls. But with this band i wanted to be more real, and more vulnerable, and hope that people related to it.

This song is about a particularly hard part of my life, where i was kind of stuck, felt lonely and angry, let some dark thoughts hit in the old noggin. I just did the “take deep breaths” and keep it all in routine. You know the whole ‘Man Up!’ cliche? Well, yeah that was me. Once I started writing, the rest just flew onto the page.”

Not many people in my life would have thought for a second that anything was wrong” he reveals. “Only the select few that helped me through it would’ve truley known.

We are going to try to continue writing songs in the same sort of direction. Keep things as real as possible. Our new bassist, Matthew “Cameron” Cassidy, is bringing in some fresh points musically. Our rythmn guitarist, Jack, is getting more confident composing, after going from bedroom bassist in less than a year (genuinely amazing to behold – we are honestly very proud of him).”

So we will continue trying to improve in our song writing and our live shows and grab any opportunities that come our way.
