As well as being one of the more melodic bands in this year’s M2TM Scotland, Lupine Raine are also one of the newest. Their first recorded output only emerged last Summer, with their debut single, Echoes.
“We were incredibly proud of releasing our 1st single, Echoes, in June ‘25 and completing our debut EP, It was never just one thing.“
“Echoes is about searching for something real – something with purpose. It’s about the fear of missing your moment. Feeling stuck in a loop. Wanting answers. Maybe not getting them. Echoes, musically, feels like the beginning of something and covers a lot of what we do stylistically which seemed so suited to open the EP.“
They also launched the EP with a show in Montrose, hometown to most of the band (one member, Tam, resides in Edinburgh). It’s maybe not somewhere familiar to some, but they reflect fondly:
“Montrose has always had a vibrant music scene ever since we’ve grown up playing here and the surrounding areas.“
“It is home to the Mofest in which we made our live debut also! Many great bands have come from our wee town. Our EP (launch) couldn’t have gone any better to be honest, completely overwhelmed with the support and we a raring to go with the gigs and brand new music this year!“
They also ring positive about negotiating the challenges of being based a couple of hours apart. How do they handle it?
“With the constant pinging of our WhatsApp group, haha!”
“With Edinburgh not being too far away, we always make full use of our rehearsals and meetings together. There’s always a place to crash for Tam too, so we all do our bit to make it work!“
Looking forward into the rest of the year, they say: “2026 is gearing up to be a busy year for us. Many gigs and festival throughout the year along with some brand new music…… sooner than you think……All the fun stuff!“
