Quietly crafting away of late, East coast hard rockers, Late Landing last hit M2TM back in 2020, in Perth. They haven’t slouched, though, and it’s earned them a solid sting of shows. Recently, they were announced to play the brand new Summers End festival.
“…We may have been incorrectly booked,” they joke, “but in all seriousness 2025 was a standout year for the band.“
“Summer’s End is shaping up to be one of the biggest gigs we’ve ever played. It’s a brand-new local festival covering all genres. We’re definitely on the heavier side of the bill, but we’re more than happy to share a festival with acts from completely different worlds. Plus, we can now say we’ve played the same festival as The Jacksons, which is not something we ever expected to add to the Late Landing CV.”
“Live-wise, the rest of the year is looking busy. We’ve got a good run of gigs lined up already, with more currently in planning. That includes an album launch show, a 20th anniversary show, and the almighty Bonfest. Bonfest is always a highlight for us, and sharing that bill with bands like Reef and Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons makes it even better. Playing live is still what drives the band, and it feels like things are really building momentum again.“
The stage isn’t the only place where they’ve been active, though.
Last year they dropped their new EP, Darkest Days, featuring the title track, as well as Grand Illusions and All At Once. They say of the process: “Darkest Days was recorded locally with producer extraordinaire Mark Tindal. Working with Tindal was a great experience from start to finish, and we’re incredibly proud of how the EP turned out. He really understands what we’re trying to do as a band and knows how to get the best out of us in the studio. We’re genuinely lucky to have someone with his level of skill and experience so close to home. It had been a long nine years since our previous release, so getting Darkest Days out felt like a huge milestone for us. Thankfully, we’ve broken that habit and won’t be leaving it anywhere near as long before the next batch of songs sees the light of day.“
Indeed, they are grabbing hold of that momentum, and riding it straight into the creation of a new full-length.
The band reveals: “The new album is very much a continuation of what came before it. Darkest Days was a three-track EP that was originally intended to be a full album, so these new songs naturally grow out of that material. We’ve been back in the studio with Tindal finalising those tracks and we’re now at the tail end of recording, with a release planned for later this year. The album aims to cover all bases. There are tight three-minute bangers sitting alongside much more expansive material, including an eleven-minute instrumental that’s quickly become a live favourite. If you want a preview of what’s coming, the best way is to catch us live. The big beasty gets played last every time, and we’ve no plans to change that.“
