Get ready for six strings and six shooters – It’s High Noon! With a live demo, and sold out headline show to their name, this lot seem an exciting prospect. But, straight off, we had to ask about the genre tag…
“Cowboy death/doom…” they explain,
“…is probably best described as a mix of heavy influences across the genre spectrum of metal, combined with an old western vibe riffing on the cinema culture going back 100 years. We initially thought we were going to be more of a straight up stoner project, but we quickly realised we really enjoyed having a theme to play around, plus it felt natural to bring in themes and influences from outside of just our core genre, just as the movies did over the decades.“
But with a shortage of OK Corrals in Scotland’s capital, how did these five pilgrims posse up?
“The idea for the band was born first – sometime maybe 2022 or 2023, where the name gave a few of us a laugh in the flat one evening, and we had that, you know what, let’s do something with it moment. It took a year or so to find all the right people for the job, and a bit longer to find the rough sound that we all enjoyed playing. We’re from a range of musical backgrounds and experiences, with our drummer, Adam, being the most seasoned, and Charlie, our other guitarist, also having been around some, and the rest of us newer to the band life, despite being around on the scene for a while!“
The plan is coming together now, though. On the horizon is a new full-length, and the cadre have saddled up their best tunes.
“The album aims to be the quintessential High Noon experience” the band states.
“Songs about cowboys, drugs, cowboys on drugs, songs about dying horribly, songs about dying horribly to cowboys on drugs, the usual! We’ve been writing material for around 2 years, and our fans will recognise a lot of it, but we’re working on to getting everything to the next level, and we’re cooking up a few surprises in there too. A lot of our music so far has been written to be played live, and we want to use the album to expand on the energy and world that we have so far been able to bring to people, and capture that eclectic High Noon vibe in a way that does it justice.“
