Split between two of Scotland’s biggest cities, Goodhuman have already carved a bit of a name for themselves around the country. We last saw them in M2TM with a different formation, back in 2024’s Aberdeen Semi-final. Now, they’re back at full force, with a deadly array of personnel.

The lineup change happened as our previous vocalist, bassist and guitarist branched out to a different project so we had a few positions to audition for.”

The guys say. “We brought on Kenneth and Derek, Kenneth on guitar and vocals, and Derek on bass. The style of music has changed a little, with Kenneth introducing clean vocals alongside the growls that goodhuman is known for which adds an additional layer of melody. Derek’s style of bass playing has added another dimension with some groove and some lead bass elements plus his backing vocals harmonising with Kenneth. Allan’s signature riffs are still very much present, keeping us firmly to our progressive metalcore roots!

Returning to action with a new lineup could be intimidating.

However, they seem to have battered any such fears into complete submissions, saying: “It was actually much easier than (we) expected to be honest! When the previous members stepped away we were of course a little destabilised and wondering what we should do next but we had already been talking with Kenneth as a potential option alongside the original lineup so he was ready to jump in and contribute right away. Derek was already a good friend and an accomplished musician so bringing him on board was a no-brainer! Once we got into a practice room together it was clear that everyone was on the same wavelength and now we’ve had a few shows under our belts the new lineup feels as natural as anything.

With fresh gigs under their belts, the guys might be looking forward. But they still respect where they came from, scheduling a re-release of their 2018 track, Break The Mould. But with an EP on the horizon as well, one might ask why..?

Break the Mould has always been one of our favourite songs and one of the legacy tracks that took to the new vocal direction the best.

The core of the song is the same as before musically with some additional bass flavour added in, but the chorus is much more melodic than before and we feel it showcases the changes we’ve made as a group. We’re looking forward to getting it released!

As for the near future of goodhuman..?

Other than this upcoming show at the Balaclava, our diary is wide open! We’re always up for a show so please get in touch either with us directly or via Izaac at Morningstar Records if you have any slots needing filled. Other than that we’re focusing on getting the second re-released single out which will close off the previous chapter of the band and see us moving into brand new material. We’ve got a heap of ideas already demoed so watch this space!
