The name Dread Persephone is steadily doing the rounds, grabbing the attention of many, even if you haven’t heard them yet. They’ve grafted hard to achieve this, not least of all the road, recently trekking around the UK.
“The Attack tour took us to Birmingham, Cambridge, and London.” they say.
“The show in the Dev in Camden closed the tour off on a high note with the place jumping. The real satisfaction from this tour came from playing with the same four bands each night, making memories and lasting friendships (shoutout Nameless and Recall the Remains).“
Their single, Scapegoat, reflects their live assault. Its video shows them in full swing on stage. On pulling it together, the band reveal:
“Our first major hometown headliner, known as ScunnerSlam, took place in July 2024. We were very lucky to have the legendary David Tan come and shoot the show. The footage carefully captured the carnage that ensued, and we had our good friend and director Duncan Forbes put it all together.“
“The song Scapegoat explores themes of anxiety, addiction, and the experience of suffering from sleeping disorders.”
“Whilst the video itself doesn’t explore these themes in a forthright manner, what it does show is our vocalist Regan baring his soul to the crowd who are hanging on his every word. The explosive unpredictability juxtaposed with more mellow sections of the song mirror the volatility of these emotions. In the video the crowd goes through every emotion alongside the band.“
As for what come next, the band conclude: “We can’t reveal too much about our new material yet…”
“…but what we can say is that we are ready to push more boundaries; of genre, and of our own musical abilities. We will always explore themes that outline the human experience, balancing an introspective, psychological lens with the bigger picture of living in a society that rules through fear and coercion.“
