After a recent(ish) period inactivity, Arc Arrival may be a new name to some in the Scottish scene. However, if you do remember them from before, you might not now recognise them…

Guitarist, Magnus provides an update, saying: “Yes, in 2024 we released a few singles (Not Dead, Overdose and Haunted). After the band’s original lineup imploded during the COVID Pandemic my self and our then drummer decided to write music again and we wrote the instrumentals for those three songs.

Afterwards we decided to search for musicians that we thought would be perfect so we then found David and we recruited CJ (who we’ve been trying to get into the band for almost 10 years). After the release of Not Dead our drummer decided not to continue with music. After the release of Overdose we decided to make an album together. The process took about 9 months to complete. The instrumental side was done mostly remotely in our home studios. David and CJ recorded their parts at my home studio.

In discussing the opus as a whole, he continues: “The new album tackles issues such as inner demons, addiction and the many ways that people find different ways to cope with it and find their own paths through it.

The process in which it came together was very organic, it started with instrumental arrangements and we combed through the demos as a group to find which songs would make the album. We then took our time composing lyrics and wrote songs for ourselves that resonated with us. Continuous themes that appear include self realisation and finding a way through situations that seem impossible.

Concluding with a focus on the singles, Magnus states: “Overdose was the first song we released with just CJ singing.

Whereas the two singles previous to that Not Dead & Haunted were recorded with CJ dueting with a guest vocalist Conor O’Donnel from the band Cerberon. Through the three singles that we released before the album we discovered a new sound that we all loved and ended up with songs we felt sounded just epic.
