A fest of Scottish prog metal joins Wales’ Godsticks on their two date Noerthern trek

Crafted around chugging guitar riffs, intricate solos and driving rhythm section, this unique outfit are coming to Scotland for two shows under the Slow Dragon Music banner. The dates form the Northern part of their upcoming UK wide tour. We can now reveal three superb Scottish bands who have been added to both shows, making for an excellent micro-tour.

From Dundee, come post-doom, progressive metal cartel, Man Made Origin.

In 2025, they released their first taste of new music in some time, with the video single Maritime. They’ve since been sailing their way across Scottish stages, including last year’s Hordes X. They carry with them a monumental sound, steeped in emotion, and translate it perfectly to the live format. (Read our recent interview with Man Made Origin here.)

The further two supports are both from Edinburgh, and both recent winners of Bloodstock‘s Metal 2 The Masses Scotland.

First, the truly unique prog/death/whatever metal squad, Nassau, bring all 666 flavours of musical madness to the proceedings. Their most recent track, Sobriety Is Overrated, comes from their self-titled 2024 album. This is a properly engaging experience, drawing audiences into their own unusual world of insanity with infectious aplomb. Don’t forget to pack your straight-jacket. Or your kazoo…

Finally, 2025’s M2TM Scotland victors, who have also been a staple of SDM events since their beginnings, Nothing Speaks jump on the crew. A great display of the scene’s new wave of youthful talent, they consistently impress, garnering comparisons to Alice In Chains (but with more metal and blazing lead work. Check out their live studio rendition of Fell Apart, from the Secrets EP, recorded for CentralToneTV.

Having been holed-up in the studio for the last 18 months, Godsticks are finally being released into the wild once more. They’re not alone this time though. No, they’re bringing new music with them from a soon-to-be-announced seventh studio album, which they claim is “the toughest and most demanding record we’ve ever made; music that has pushed us to the very extremes of what we can do as musicians.

This is a darker Godsticks. Maybe even an angrier Godsticks.

But these new shows will see a monumental release of tension and energy from the emotional and physical turmoil invested in the new album, and a glorious experience for everyone concerned. Be prepared to be greeted with a ferocious sonic punch-in-the-face as this is the heaviest incarnation of Godsticks to date, and one that you won’t want to miss. Find more information below.

It’s been a long and eventful road for Godsticks since emerging onto the progressive rock scene in 2009. Metal Hammer Magazine called them “the U.K’s most idiosyncratic rock band” and over the years and several albums later, their music became progressively heavier. When the “genre redefining” prog metal masterpiece that was Emergence was released in 2015, it garnered them new fans from all over the world and ultimately led to them being signed to Kscope.

Soon followed Faced With Rage in 2017, Inescapable in 2020 and This Is What A Winner Looks Like in 2023; three more critically acclaimed albums, each with an astounding collection of songs highlighting how the band channels their technical ability to create dynamic riffs and emotional depth in a melting pot of heavy rock, progressive and alternative metal. Among others, Total Guitar Magazine lauded the band’s “technically astounding prog-metal replete with hooks and melodies.

Also in their last few years of touring the band have now finally gained recognition as the explosive, high energy live act they’d always threatened to become, showcasing their chugging guitar riffs, intricate solos and driving rhythm section. After their biggest ever run of live headline gigs and festival appearances, as well as a European Tour supporting Lizzard across the Netherlands, Germany and Italy, the release of the seventh Godsticks studio album looms large on the horizon in April 2026.
