Feeding Frenzy: Baphorage – Nocturnal Dead Memories
Baphorage – Nocturnal Dead Memories (single)

Release Date: 5th December, 2025||Genre: Black Metal|| Label: Signal Rex
“The world didn’t have a space for me, so I screamed it open.”
Guanajuato newcomers, Baphorage, wasted no time making an impact. Their debut, Legacy of the Callous, dropped on 23 July 2025, swiftly followed by the ferocious EP Bloody Possession on 4 October. The latter dives headlong into themes of demonic possession, occultism, alchemy, and biblical blasphemy, while Legacy of the Callous took aim at religious and political turmoil. Despite their different angles, both releases tap into deeply personal territory, and yet a vascularised theme within black metal. Baphorage describe the project as an attempt to “reveal the legacy of this project and shouting for those who cannot do it”—a drive that pulsates through the new single.
Nocturnal Dead Memories captures two sides of the same wound: the ache of loss and the grip of obsession.
Baphorage explains, “Both songs explore how love, when broken or corrupted, can turn someone into something unrecognizable. The first song immerses itself in bitter nostalgia, emptiness and the exhaustion of continuing to cling to a memory that hurts more than what it once meant. It is the lament of someone who fears both feeling and forgetting. The second song sinks into the most poisonous side of the heart: jealousy, rage and that suffocating feeling of seeing the person you love being happy with another. Here love twists into hate, dependence and emotional threats, showing a mind at the limit of its patience and stability. Together, the two pieces build an honest and heartbreaking portrait of how relationships can mark, break and transform. This single is a direct blow to the chest: vulnerable, aggressive and deeply human.”
The thematic range of this foetal goliath may not be idiosyncratic of BM, albeit vast and anthropomorphised in previous releases, but Dead Memories delivers a stark, unsettling portrait of human connection at its breaking point. Raw and unflinching it underscores the band’s growing ability to explore humanity with intelligence, emotional weight and an unshakeable, lingering artistic identity.
